What is Sin?
1st John 3:4 says:
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law:
for sin is the transgression of the law.
This is the Biblical definition of Sin. Sin is the transgression of God's laws and commandments given to man. Sin is the breaking of God's commandments. The Bible says that everone has sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Sin started in Genesis when man was tempted and deceived. God's 10 commandments given to man are found in God's Word, in Exodus chapter 20 and Deuteronomy chapter 5. These commandments are for our own good. Ecclesiastes 12:13 says that the WHOLE DUTY of MAN is to FEAR GOD, and to KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. God does not change. The same God that gave man the 10 commandments back in Exodus, is the same God we all NEED to serve and obey today. - (Malachi 3:6)

The wages of sin is death. Sin will separate one from God, because God is completely Holy. (1 Peter 1:16) If someone sins, they must repent, confess and forsake their sin to then be reconciled back to God through Jesus Christ. Sin is extremely destructive to man, because it is not of God and it is of the devil. (1 John 3:8) The devil comes only to steal, to kill, and to destroy everything good out of people's lives. (John 10:10) - (Ephesians 4:27) - (1 Corinthians 15:57) - (Proverbs 6:32) - (1 Corinthians 6:18) - (Galatians 6:7) - (Galatians 6:8). The devil is also a LIAR and the FATHER of LIES (John 8:44). You can guess where he's going: (Revelation 21:8). Apart from Jesus Christ, we can do nothing (John 15:5). People all over the world, need Jesus Christ and the power of God to over come the devil. The devil is mankind's true enemy (Ephesians 6:12). Jesus said: Whosoever commits a sin, is the SERVANT of SIN in (John 8:34). Or in other words, whosoever commits sin, becomes a SLAVE to sin. That is the kind of evil binding nature that sin has on people if they commit sin or give into the devil's temptations, which will lead to a devil's ETERNAL HELL!!! He that commits sin is of the devil!!! (1 John 3:8) (Romans 8:37).
Sin is anything that breaks God's Commandments or Laws such as: smoking, drinking alcohol, getting drunk, using drugs, swearing, hatred, hateful thoughts toward people, killing someone or murder, abortion, fornication, adultery, lust, idolatry, covetousness, pride, stealing and homosexuality. These sins all root from the 10 commandments. Smoking cigarettes goes against (Exodus 20:13) Do not kill. If you smoke cigarettes, you are killing yourself. These sins all crucified Jesus Christ. Every time someone sins, they are making life harder on themselves, and they separate themselves from God (Isaiah 59:2). A continual life of sin ultimately will lead a soul to Hell eternally (Revelation 20:15) - (Matthew 5:30) - (Matthew 25:41). The good news is, that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life then died and rose to wash away people's sin completely. If you repent, confess and forsake all your sin and put faith in Jesus Christ, and continue to live holy, then salvation can be yours. Jesus can help you live a better life. Jesus said: My yoke is easy, and my burden is light in (Matthew 11:30). The Bible also says, the way of transgressors is hard in (Proverbs 13:15). Also, to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin (James 4:7). IF YOU CONDONE OR JUSTIFY SIN, GOD'S WORD SAYS THAT YOU ARE AN ABOMINATION TO HIM!!! According to his word in Proverbs 17:15.

He that committeth sin is of the devil;...
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Thanks be to God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
...The joy of the LORD is your strength.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
