Message Title: Biblical Membership
Church Notes from 05/26/24 The Lord Through Pastor Michael
2 Tim. 2:1-3
Ro. 12:4-5
What is biblical membership?
1 Cor. 12:18-22
Col. 1:18
What does satan try to bring against the body of Christ?
1 Cor. 12:24-25
Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Satan will try to get us to forsake assembling with the body of Christ.
Satan will try to get us to forsake the Word of God.
How does God want the Body of Christ to be or behave?
Ro. 15:5-6
He wants us to with one mouth and mind to glorify God.
1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1Co 12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
1Co 10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
Defence and offence against the dividing disease of offense
There are diseases in the world caled auto immune diseases where the body hurts itself.
There are similar in the body of Christ like gossip.
A stumbling block, an enticement, someone says something wrong. Neutral offences where the devil trys to play drama games with your mind.
Right offences where the word of God thats preached and taught the enemy trys to get us to be offended at that instead of being humble and submit to it.
1 Peter 2:8
(1Pe 2:8) And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
Need to be affected by the word and not offended by the Word.
Matt. 11:6 Blessed are they who are not offended in me.
Matt. 16:21 Where does offense come from?
(Mat 16:21) From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Mat 16:22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Mat 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Your brother and sister in Christ are not the offense they are not the enemy.
It's the devil trying to work through them.
Rebuke Satan not the brother. Prov. 18:19 a brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city.
Rev. 12 says that the devil is the accuser of the brethren.
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Col. 3 Gal. 2:20 When you realize your life is dead and hid with Christ in God. You can't offend a dead man. When self is dead offense will be dead.
How to defend a against the disease of offense
ECCL 2:4?
Yielding is translated as health and medicine in other scriptures.
Rather yield and cure it with the word of God.
Ps. 119:165 Nothing shall offend them.
People will stay at a job or neighborhood where people are doing offensive things like smoking blunts or sin but when someone gets offended
at a church they go somewhere else.
When we pass over one anothers transgressions the devil will have no place in our lives. It is a glory to pass over trangressions and offenses.
1 Cor. 12:
1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1Co 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.
1Co 12:20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
1Co 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
1Co 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
1Co 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
1Co 3:4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
Carnality will bring division in Chirst, Spirituality will bring unity.
Carnal: Envy, strife, divisions.
Envying: to heat, or zeal. or Jealousy
(2Co 10:12) For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
We shouldn't be envying someone else.
When we do what God has designed each of us to do then there will be unity.
Matt. 27:18
Saul had envy for david and it also caused him to try to kill david.
Envy is dangerous because it can cause people to want to kill each other.
Ro. 12:15 rejoice with them who rejoice and weep with them who weep.
We are to rejoice in what the LORD has done in other people lives not to covet what they have.
Strife can cause diunity. Strife means a quarel.
Quarel is a heated disagreement between different parties
Ro. 12: We dont want to let offense in because it can bring strife in
James 3:16 says if there is strife there is confusion and every evil work.
Eph. 4:
(Eph 4:31) Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
somtimes people allow these things in their life but the scripture is telling us to get rid of those things and allow the fruit of the spirit instead
when people wrong us.
Divisions means disunion or some people say it means 2 visions.
We dont want to let division come in the church.
Amos 3:3 says can 2 walk together except they be agreed
John 17:21
As we are one the world will be able to believe on Jesus.
How to avoid division? Ro. 14
Talks about avoiding disputes on oppinions.
